Park City BikingThe second annual Park City Cycling Festival put on by local radio station KCPW and Park City Mountain Resort will take place June 28-30.  It is a three day festival for mountain bikers, road bikers, and even training wheel cyclists!  The beauty of the Cycling Festival is that is for everyone from advanced riders to people who have never biked at all.  The Park City Cycling Fest's hub will be at the base area of Park City Mountain Resort.

All proceeds from the festival will help support Park City's local community radio station KCPW.  A full schedule and registration info can be found at: www.kcpw.org or on Facebook at Park City Cycling Festival.  Come see why Park City is the only Gold level ride center in the world!

Deer Valley SummerDeer Valley Resort will officially open for summer activities on Friday, June 14th.  Deer Valley will operate three chairlifts to serve hikers and bikers, they are: Snow Park, Silver Lake, and Empire.  Deer Valley has over 60 miles of maintained trails, most are for dual use but there are a couple that are for hiking only.  Deer Valley's mountain biking ranges from intermediate to expert, with some downhill that is definitely is only for experts so be sure to look at the trail map and know your skill level before you head out.

Deer Valley does offer a full-service bike school, with instructors that are based out of Snow Park Lodge.  The historical society also does free guided hikes the second Sunday of every month through October for those looking to get more acquainted with Deer Valley's trails.  The hikers meet at the Silver Lake chairlift at 9:30am.  If you want a more private tour, a mountain guide can be hired any day of the week.

Deer Valley Resort also offers day camps for kids of all ages.  Residents of Park City or visitors can drop off their kids for a day, week, or even the whole summer.  You can choose from half-day or a full-day.  Kids do tons of fun activities depending on their age and get to explore all the Deer Valley has to offer.

Of course nights at Deer Valley are filled with concerts at the Snow Park Lodge Amphitheatre.  There are the free Wednesday night concerts where locals and residents alike bring their coolers, blankets, and family to enjoy the music and beautiful scenery.  Then you have the big concerts with acts such as Indigo Girls, Utah Symphony, and One Republic.  It is one of the best things about summer in Park City and all the concerts are very popular.  We look forward to doing some hiking and enjoying live music this summer in Deer Valley!

By diana
May 21, 2013

Park City UtahIt was announced this week that Park City, Utah is a top ten finalist for Outside Magazine's  "best town ever" contest!   The winner will be decided via Facebook voting where participants can vote for their favorite finalist.

Outside Magazine selected America's top ten best towns based on nine categories including food and nightlife, access to green space, skiing, biking, surfing, paddling, running, great gyms and sports shops, and low commute time. Park City would be at the top of all those categories with the exception of surfing of course.  With 3 world class ski resorts, over 400 miles of trails for biking, hiking, and running, two reservoirs within 20 minutes for paddling, fly-fishing on Provo River, and low commute times, Park City is definitely a front runner!   The winner of the "Best Towns" competition receives a feature story in the September issue of Outside Magazine portraying the reasons why the destination deserves this honor.

Some of the other towns in the running are: Honolulu, Spokane, Bozeman, Greenville, San Diego, and Greenville. Outside Magazine says this about Park City:  "It’s the best mix of adventure and culture of any mountain town in the West."  They also say that the world class restaurants, free public transportation, and great nightlife also played a major role in Park City being in the top ten.

The top ten finalists are featured on Outside Magazine's Facebook page where the public is encouraged to cast their vote for their favorite town. Outside Magazine fans are able to vote once a day for the destination of their choice today through June 13, 2013, when voting concludes. Voters can also enter to win a five-day adventure to one of the top ten finalist destinations.

To cast a vote, the public is invited to visit www.facebook.com/outsidemagazine. Go and vote now for Park City and show the world why you love this town!  This is the reason we live here and love to sell real estate to others wanting to live in this great town.

Growing Number of Summer Visitors to Park City

By diana
Aug 14, 2012

The warm dry summer hasn't been great for some but all three Park City resorts are reaping the benefits.  Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, and Canyons all have seen a big increase this summer in visitors compared to last year.  Summers have been on a steady climb since 2008 but this year things seemed to really take off.  The Canyons alone has seen a double-digit increase in the number of visitors compared to last year.

With all of the resorts offering more activities then ever, people are flocking to Park City either to get away from the heat of Salt Lake, or just to enjoy the clean mountain air.  Mountain biking and hiking have always been a big reason people visit, but the addition of the farmers market, ziplines, several free concert series, and outdoor movie nights, is attracting even more people and giving options of things to do everyday of the week.

As the locals say here, "You come for the winter but stay for the summers," and it seems more and more people are discovering just how spectacular summers are here.

Park City Area Elevated to Silver Status For Bicyclists

By diana
Jun 05, 2012

Park City and Snyderville Basin were named a silver-level bicycle-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists last month.  A Bicycle Community welcomes cyclists by providing safe accommodation for cycling the encouraging people to bike for recreation and transportation.

Park City was designated as a bronze-level bicycle friendly community  in 2009, so the move to silver is a big step in the right direction.  Recently installed bike lanes on Bonanza Dr., and a lot of awareness and education to the public about using bike trails, helped elevated Park City up to silver status.

The League of American Cyclists, focus on pavement cycling, not mountain biking.  Park City already received the first ever Gold Status by the International Mountain Biking Association last year.

Park City Receives Highest Rating For Mountain Bike Trails

By diana
May 03, 2012

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) named Park City a Gold Level Ride Center, the first town in the world to get such an honor!  IMBA Communication Director Mark Eller said in an article from The Park Record that Park City fit all the criteria for the award.  On a scale of 100 Park City received 96.  No other town received higher than 90.

There is about 350 miles of mountain bike trails just in the West Side of Summit County.  Plus, Park City has dirt bike parks, terrain parks, downhill, and family-friendly trails.  Factor in that plus all the great hotels, restaurants, and easy access to trails and it is easy to see why Park City came out on top.

With all this publicity Park City is hoping mountain bike tourism will increase this summer.  Trails such as Round Valley and Glenwild are already open and dry, ready for bikers due to the warm weather.  We are so excited for summer and all the great things Park City has to offer.
