The Waldorf Astoria Park City debuted their new restaurant Slopes by Talisker last week and they are excited for locals and visitors alike to come for what they want to be known for; their food.  Chef John Murcko, the executive chef of Talisker properties, collaborated with the Waldorf-Astoria in creating the new menu.  The portions are smaller and the food overall has a lighter feel with less butters and creams and more focus on fresh and simple flavors.

The hotel also added two more dining options this winter along with Slopes, including a pool-side ice cream store called Scoop and Crave a pastry and sweets store that opens early for skiers looking for a bite to eat before heading out to ski.  Scoop with also offer fireside s'mores during the winter, the perfect end to a day on the slopes.

So, go check out the new things happening at the Waldorf-Astoria it will be sure to leave a good impression.

Executive Chef at Canyons Resort Gets National Attention

By diana
Oct 18, 2011

Chef John Murcko is not just the talk of Park City but is also being recognized on a national level as an inspired chef using regional in-season ingredients to delight any palate.  SKI Magazine just featured a whole article on Chef Murcko who is the Executive Chef at Canyons Resort and oversees 25 restaurants.  He is one of a handful of ski resort chef's shifting toward regional, seasonal foods, which requires advance planning and local networking.  This not only makes the food taste better but alters Utah's economy for the better, providing the state's small food producers more business.

Chef Murcko's newest restaurant is The Farm right a the base of Canyon's Resort.  It serves modernized Southern comfort food with a Wasatch twist.  We have had the chance to try The Farm a few times this summer and fall and the portions are plentiful and always delicious.  Simple things like Ham and Pea soup somehow get turned into a flavorful journey in your mouth.  The menu changes with the seasons so you can expect something fresh and inventive every-time you go.

Along with the accolades Chef Murcko and The Farm received,  Canyons Resort was also ranked the #16 ski resort in North America and #9 in best on-mountain food by SKI Magazine readers.  Canyons is also revamping several of their restaurants this winter so we expect even better things are to come.  If you come to Park City it is worth the trip to Canyons Resort to see all the improvements they have made the last year and of course have lunch or dinner at any of their great restaurants.

There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh baked bread, and now it is easy to find with the Great Harvest Bread Company opening in Park City.   Today July 8th, they are officially open for business and will be giving out free samples all day.  With fresh breads, pastries, and sweets baked daily it is a bread lovers dream.  They grind their own wheat on site and use only fresh and pure ingredients in all their breads.  They will also feature fresh sandwiches for lunch and offer coffee.

Located in Kimball Junction between Wal-Mart and Pier One  the location is easy to access from 1-80 and there is plenty of parking.  Run by a local family we are excited to support this new business.  Not to mention the excitement of trying their famous cinnamon rolls or putting honey on their warm wheat bread, I am going there ASAP! Let us know if you had a chance to try it and what you thought.

Park City Restaurateur Bill White Nominated for National Award

By diana
Mar 03, 2011

Park City's own Bill White who restaurants include Grappa, Chimayo, Wahso, Ghidotti's and Windy Ridge Cafe and Bakery, was recently named a semi-finalist for the James Beard Foundation's 2011 Restaurateur of the Year award.  The James Beard award is considered the most prestigious national award that can be given to Restaurateur.

It is very rare for a small town city like Park City to have a restaurateur nominated.  Most nominees come from major cities along the coast or Chicago.  Bill White said, "This award reflects well on the food population of this town."  Bill White's restaurants employ about 600 people and are all very well know by locals and visitors alike.  We are so happy that Bill White is getting the recognition we know he deserves, we frequent his restaurants often and always enjoy every bite.  The  James Beard award winner will be announced May 9th in New York City.

For more on Bill White and his nomination see the article in the Park Record here: http://www.parkrecord.com/ci_17512493.
