Vail Resorts Will Take Over Resort Operations At Canyons Ski Resort

By diana
May 29, 2013

canyons cropHuge news today for the town of Park City, Canyons Resort, and skiers.  Vail Resorts announced that they will be assuming all of the resort operations of Canyons Resort in Park City.  Vail Resorts has entered into a long-term lease with Talisker Corporation, Talisker has retained its development rights at the Canyons, and Vail Resorts will be taking over the management of the ski resort.

This is Vail Resorts first mountain resort in Utah, they also operate several resorts in Colorado and Tahoe.  Canyons will now be included in the Epic Season Pass for the 2013-2014 winter season.  This means that anyone who purchases an Epic Pass will get unlimited access to Canyons, Vail, Beaver Creek, Brekenridge, Keystone, Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood.   That is access to ski resorts across three states, a first in the ski industry.  You can purchase the Epic Pass now for $689 for adults.  That is almost a $200 savings from the season pass price of $849 at Canyons this past winter season.

Vail Resorts is the leading mountain resort operator in the United States, and will bring lots of business and know how to the Canyons. This is great news for Park City real estate and anyone of loves to ski or snowboard.

Huntsman Deer Valley Estate Could Be Developed

By diana
Apr 25, 2013

The Huntsman Family Estate located in Deer Valley on 60 acres stretching between Marsac Avenue and Royal Street is being considered for development.  This grand piece of Deer Valley real estate has been on the market since 2009, and includes a 20,000 square foot luxury home.

The family and its partner are now wanting to develop the Deer Valley land instead of selling it.  They are considering several development options, including one that would include a few luxury homes and another one that envisions building townhouses or duplexes in a clustered layout.  Since Deer Valley has begun exploring the possibility of building a gondola linking the ski slopes and Main Street, the potential for building the development has increased.

Deer Valley hasn't released any detail about the route but the Huntsman estate could be a critical piece of land as the gondola is finalized.  If the estate is used for a midway station it would provide ski-in ski-out access to numerous homeowners.  Deer Valley has said the gondola could debut for the 2014-2015 ski season at the earliest.

Feb 05, 2013

Park City skiers Alex Schlopy and Joss Christensen earned silver and bronze medals at the Paul Mitchell Progression Session Big Air Event at Park City Mountain Resort, this past week.  Schlopy and Christensen are both natives of Park City and they both attended the Winter Sports School in Park City.

Skiers performed two jumps during the slopestyle event, with the best overall score counting in the medal standings.  It was a windy day at Park City Mountain Resort and both skiers had to adjust their decisions on what tricks to perform at the last minute.  Both said they were happy to be home after the X Games competition the week prior.

Congrats to these exceptional Park City athletes!
