It is time to get out and enjoy this beautiful mountain summer!  Here is what is happening this weekend in Park City, UT:
Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will present "The Place Beyond The Pines" rated R at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library.  Thought by many to be one of the most impressive American independent films of the season, this highly anticipated new drama explores the consequences of a motorcycle rider's (Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling) fateful decision to commit a crime to support his child. The heist goes badly and, in a highly charged scene, he is chased by a policeman (Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper). The two men become locked in a tense collision course which will have a dramatic impact on both of their families for years to come. This is an epic story about police and political corruption with intense performances by a stellar cast. Motown Sounds at the Egyptian Theatre - Come enjoy some classic rhythm and blues with the Motown Sounds performing at the Egyptian Theatre this weekend.  The show will showcase music of the Temptations, the Supremes, the Jacksons, & Smokey Robinson.  Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday 6pm.  Tickets range from $29 to $50.  Go to www.parkcityshows.com for more information.

Park Silly Sunday Market Opens - The Park Silly Sunday Market will kick off it's seventh season on Main Street this Sunday!  Come enjoy the open air market with locals crafts and goods, live music, food, drinks, and fun!  It is free and open to Park City residents and visitors.  It runs from 10am to 5pm on Lower Main Street, in Old Town.

Park City Weekend Events May 24-26

Park City Mountain Resort opens for the summer season today (Friday).  They will have the alpine slide, alpine coaster, zip lines, climbing wall, adventure zone, scenic lift rides, and more for all the family to enjoy.  It is going to be a beautiful Memorial Day Weekend with temperatures in the 70's and a sunny outlook for the whole weekend.  So get out and enjoy this beautiful mountain air! Here are some other things happening this weekend in Park City, UT:

Annual Summit County Library Used Booksale - The Friends of Summit County Library members used book sale will be open to the public this weekend.  Hours will be: Friday and Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm.  There will be books, DVD's and more for sale and all proceeds will benefit the Summit County Library to buy new materials and help with programs.

jefferson-starship1Jefferson Starship at the Egyptian Theatre - Jefferson Starship, featuring founder/guitarist Paul Kartner will perform at The Egyptian Theatre on Main Street on Friday and Saturday night at 8pm.  Jefferson Starship evolved from the original band Jefferson Airplane, and were one of the most successful arena rock bands in the 1970s and early 1980s.  Tickets range from $35 to $60 and are available at www.parkcityshows.com.

Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will present Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep," at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library on Park Ave in Old Town.  The film is a story about a public interest lawyer who is a former 1970s radical antiwar fugitive wanted for a murder.  After 30 years underground he must now go on the run in search of the one person that can clear his name.  General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.  For more info visit www.parkcityfilmseries.com.

Guided Nature Walks - The Swaner EcoCenter at Kimball Junction, will offer a guided nature walk Saturday at 10am.  The hike will explore the wetlands while looking for wildlife.  The tour is $5 per person, please call 435-649-1767 to make a reservation.

Park City Weekend Events May 17-19

Here is what is happening this weekend in Park City, UT:

Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will present Park Chan-Wood's, "Stoker," rated R, at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library on Park Avenue.  The film follows a woman named India whose father dies in an auto accident and  her unstable mother and Uncle Charlie who she never knew existed.  Showtimes are Friday and Saturday and 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.  Tickets are $7 for general admission and $6 for students and senior citizens.  For more information go to www.parkcityfilmseries.com.

Weekend Wine Series - The Fox School of Wine will hold a weekend wine series class this Friday and Saturday from 6-7pm  at Silver Baron Lodge in Lower Deer Valley.  People coming to the class will taste and learn about five wines that have been chosen for the weekend theme.  Reservations are required and the cost is $25 per person.  Please RSVP to Kirsten Fox at 435-655-9463.

Park City Singers Spring Concerts - The Park City Singers will present their Spring concert at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday at 7pm and Sunday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 7pm.  The concert will have music by Cole Porter and George Gershwin.  Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children.  Tickets will be $15 at the door.  Go to www.parkcitysingers.com for more information.

john-gorka-x3651John Gorka at the Egyptian Theatre - John Gorka a singer and songwriter will perform at the Egyptian Theatre on Main Street on Saturday at 8pm.  Gorka was part of the growing Fast Folk music scene in New York City in the 1990's along with his friends Suzanne Vega and Shawn Colvin.  Tickets range from $20 to $40 and are available by visiting www.parkcityshows.com.

Utah Olympic Park Offers New Activities For Summer Season

Utah Olympic Park is scheduled to open for the summer season this Saturday May 18th.  This summer they have added some new activities that are sure to thrill Park City residents and visitors alike.

There will be three new adventure courses and a Drop Tower activity.  The three adventure courses go from easy to difficult so you can progress you way up to the hardest one.  The courses vary in height from 12 feet to up to 60 feet above ground.  The Drop Tower is a 65 foot simulated "free fall" drop from a platform reached by a zip line.  It is a great way to challenge yourself mentally and physically!

Utah Olympic Park is also introducing the new Adventure Pass priced at $40 per person.  It offers guests unlimited scenic chairlift rides, and a choice of of three of the following activities: Summit Course, Canyon Course, Discovery Course, or Drop Tower.  They are also offering season passes for summer which are $200 for adults and $100 for youths ages 6-12.  A great deal if you plan on going their often.

The Utah Olympic Park of course will still have the popular Comet Bobsled, ziplines, alpine slide, and Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Aerial Show presented by Montage Deer Valley.  The Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Aerial Show will take on Sundays at 1pm from June 9 to September 1.  The shows features former and current Olympians and other elite athletes showcasing their aerial talent.

The Utah Olympic Park will only be open for weekends from May 18-June 2 from 11am to 6pm.  Then will be on a daily schedule starting on June 8 - Sept. 2.  The Alf Engen Ski Museum and Eccles 2002 Winter Olympic Games Museum will be open from 10am to 6pm for the regular summer season.  If you have never been there you have to check it out it is definitely one of the coolest activities Park City has to offer and is unique to our town.

Here is what is happening this weekend in Park City:

wasatch back artPark City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will feature, "Bidder 70" at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library.  "Bidder 70" is the story of Tim DeChris who disrupted a Bureau of Land Management oil and gas leasing auction in 2008 by bidding $1.7M for 22K acres to prevent drilling.  He was later convicted and sentenced to prison.  Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.  The Sunday screening will have a panel discussion with members of Peaceful Uprising following the film.

Wasatch Back Student Art Show - The Kimball Art Center will host the annual Wasatch Back Student Art Show that features work from students of Park City, Summit, and Wasatch county schools.  The show will run from April 27 to June 2.   Visit www.kimballartcenter.org for more information.

Earth Day Celebration at the Swaner EcoCenter - An Earth Day Celebration will be held at Swaner EcoCenter on Saturday from noon to 2pm.  It is a free event that will feature scavenger hunts, information tables with Environmental Organizations, and indoor activities that will help kids better understand and cherish our environment.

Here are just a few things that are happening for fun this weekend in Park City, Utah:

OPCC_01_AMOUR_8.14_Layout 1Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will feature Michael Haneke's "Amour," rated PG-13 at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library and Education Center.  "Amour" won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival and Oscar for the Best Foreign Language Film this year.  Showing are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.

'Reefer Madness: The Musical' - The Egyptian Theatre will present Dark Horse Company Theatre's "Reefer Madness: The Musical" on Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.  "Reefer Madness: The Musical" is based on the 1936 propaganda film, "Reefer Madness," which warned of the misinformed horrors of marijuana in society.  Tickets range from $25 to $44 and are available by visiting www.parkcityshows.com.

Tumbleweeds Best of Fest - The Utah Film Center and Park City Film Series will present a Tumbleweeds Best of Fest screening of Bilbo Bergeron's, "A Monster in Paris," rated G at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library.  The animated film pays homage to early 20th century cinema with the vocal talents of Vanessa Paradis and Sean Lennon.  Showtime is 3pm on Sunday.

Here is what is happening this weekend in Park City, UT:

Park City Culinary Institute Wine Tasting: The Park City Culinary Institute will host a classic grapes and wine tasting at the Deer Valley Club at Silver Lake Village on Friday from 6pm to 8pm.  John Davis one of the leading wine buyers and columnists in the country will lead a tasting discussion on classic grapes and explain where they originated from, what they taste like, and what food to pair them with.  Davis was voted Wine Educator of the Year by his peers.  Registration is $50, visit www.pcculinary.com for more information.

Park City Follies -  The annual Park City Follies , a community spoof that will leave you laughing, runs this weekend at the Egyptian Theatre on Main Street.  Showtimes are Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 6pm.  This year's theme is "Nothing Special." Ted Ligety Homecoming - World Champion skier and Park City native Ted Ligety is coming home, and Park City Mountain Resort is hosting a homecoming to congratulate him on his record breaking season.  The festivities will begin at 1pm on Saturday with a parade of flags at lower PayDay.  Ligety will then participate in a questions-and-answer session at the PayDay stage at 1:15pm.  Then he will meet with fans from 2pm to 3pm.  The event will end with a free concert by Byron Friedman at the PayDay deck.  Come support this amazing local athlete!

toddrunETHEL and Todd Rundgren at the Eccles Center - String quartet ETHEL and rock-music pioneer Todd Rundgren will perform Saturday at the Eccles Center for Performing Arts.  The concert will feature a blend of classical, rock, and experimental music, starting at 7:30pm.  Tickets range from $20 to $67 and are available by going to www.ecclescenter.org.

Spring skiing in Park City is in full gear with everyone enjoying the warm weather while on the slopes.  After skiing or boarding their is tons to do this weekend in Park City.  Here are just a few of the things going on:

Spring Celebration and Egg Hunt - The Swaner EcoCenter at Kimball Junction will host a spring celebration and egg hunt on Saturday from 11am to 1pm.  There will be an egg hunt at Newpark Plaza that begins at 11am and a geo-cache egg hunt inside the EcoCenter that will begin at 11:15am.  There will also be egg dyeing, face painting, bounce houses, and crafts.  Visit www.swanerecocenter.org for more information.

Park City Weekend Events March 22-24

It is looking to be a great weekend, with snow falling today and lots of Spring Breakers here to enjoy the snow!  Here are just some of the fun things happening this weekend in Park City, UT:

Gallery MAR MS Reception - The Gallery MAR, at 436 Main Street, is teaming with National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Utah office, for a reception on Friday night from 6pm to 8pm.  The reception will feature artwork and volunteers from the MS Society who will answer questions about MS.  For more information visit www.galleryMAR.com.

Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band - Who's Bad - The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band will perform at the Egyptian Theatre on Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.  Come groove to Michael Jackson's best hits and enjoy a great show!  Tickets range from $30 to $50 and are available at www.parkcityshows.com.

spring gruvSpring Gruv at Canyons - The sixth annual Spring Gruv at Canyons resort will start Saturday with pond skimming contest at noon.  Pond skimming has been a Park City tradition for 17 years and is always very entertaining to watch.  If you don't want to ski and just want to watch the show, Gondola passes are $15, there will be a beer garden and grill set up for spectators to enjoy.  Following the Pond skimming there will be a free concert by the North Mississippi Allstars at the resort center.  Then on Sunday there is a special event called Clicquot in the Snow.  French champagne maker Veuve Clicquot will do a special tasting paired with cuisine from the Farm between 3pm until 5:30pm.  Tickets are $30.  Also on Sunday enjoy another free concert on the resort stage by  Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band.  The show starts at 3pm.

San Francisco Chef's Class - Chef's Jake Des Voignes and Yaron Milgrom owners of San Francisco's Local's Corner, will demonstrate how to prepare fresh trout.  Milgrom is a former Park City resident and wanted showcase his talents here at home.  An optional wine pairing will be offered to those over 21.  The class will take place on Saturday starting at 6pm at the Temple Har Shalom.  Reserve your seats by going to www.PCCulinary.com.
