Park City Mountain Resort opens for the summer season today (Friday). They will have the alpine slide, alpine coaster, zip lines, climbing wall, adventure zone, scenic lift rides, and more for all the family to enjoy. Annual Summit County Library Used Booksale - The Friends of Summit County Library members used book sale will be open to the public this weekend. Hours will be: Friday and Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. There will be books, DVD's and more for sale and all proceeds will benefit the Summit County Library to buy new materials and help with programs.
Jefferson Starship at the Egyptian Theatre - Jefferson Starship, featuring founder/guitarist Paul Kartner will perform at The Egyptian Theatre on Main Street on Friday and Saturday night at 8pm. Jefferson Starship evolved from the original band Jefferson Airplane, and were one of the most successful arena rock bands in the 1970s and early 1980s. Tickets range from $35 to $60 and are available at www.parkcityshows.com.
Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will present Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep," at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library on Park Ave in Old Town. The film is a story about a public interest lawyer who is a former 1970s radical antiwar fugitive wanted for a murder. After 30 years underground he must now go on the run in search of the one person that can clear his name. General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Guided Nature Walks - The Swaner EcoCenter at Kimball Junction, will offer a guided nature walk Saturday at 10am. The hike will explore the wetlands while looking for wildlife. The tour is $5 per person, please call 435-649-1767 to make a reservation.

Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will present Park Chan-Wood's, "Stoker," rated R, at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library on Park Avenue. The film follows a woman named India whose father dies in an auto accident and her unstable mother and Uncle Charlie who she never knew existed. Weekend Wine Series - The Fox School of Wine will hold a weekend wine series class this Friday and Saturday from 6-7pm at Silver Baron Lodge in Lower Deer Valley. People coming to the class will taste and learn about five wines that have been chosen for the weekend theme. Reservations are required and the cost is $25 per person. Park City Singers Spring Concerts - The Park City Singers will present their Spring concert at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday at 7pm and Sunday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 7pm. Utah Olympic Park is scheduled to open for the summer season this Saturday May 18th. This summer they have added some new activities that are sure to thrill Park City residents and visitors alike.
There will be three new adventure courses and a Drop Tower activity. The three adventure courses go from easy to difficult so you can progress you way up to the hardest one. The courses vary in height from 12 feet to up to 60 feet above ground. The Drop Tower is a 65 foot simulated "free fall" drop from a platform reached by a zip line. It is a great way to challenge yourself mentally and physically!
Utah Olympic Park is also introducing the new Adventure Pass priced at $40 per person. It offers guests unlimited scenic chairlift rides, and a choice of of three of the following activities: Summit Course, Canyon Course, Discovery Course, or Drop Tower. They are also offering season passes for summer which are $200 for adults and $100 for youths ages 6-12. A great deal if you plan on going their often.
The Utah Olympic Park of course will still have the popular Comet Bobsled, ziplines, alpine slide, and Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Aerial Show presented by Montage Deer Valley. The Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Aerial Show will take on Sundays at 1pm from June 9 to September 1. The shows features former and current Olympians and other elite athletes showcasing their aerial talent.
The Utah Olympic Park will only be open for weekends from May 18-June 2 from 11am to 6pm. Then will be on a daily schedule starting on June 8 - Sept. 2. The Alf Engen Ski Museum and Eccles 2002 Winter Olympic Games Museum will be open from 10am to 6pm for the regular summer season. If you have never been there you have to check it out it is definitely one of the coolest activities Park City has to offer and is unique to our town.

Park City Film Series - This week the Park City Film Series will feature, "Bidder 70" at the Jim Santy Auditorium at the Park City Library. "Bidder 70" is the story of Tim DeChris who disrupted a Bureau of Land Management oil and gas leasing auction in 2008 by bidding $1.7M for 22K acres to prevent drilling. He was later convicted and sentenced to prison. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm. The Sunday screening will have a panel discussion with members of Peaceful Uprising following the film.
Wasatch Back Student Art Show - The Kimball Art Center will host the annual Wasatch Back Student Art Show that features work from students of Park City, Summit, and Wasatch county schools. The show will run from April 27 to June 2. Visit www.kimballartcenter.org for more information.
Earth Day Celebration at the Swaner EcoCenter - An Earth Day Celebration will be held at Swaner EcoCenter on Saturday from noon to 2pm. Spring Gruv at Canyons - The sixth annual Spring Gruv at Canyons resort will start Saturday with pond skimming contest at noon. Pond skimming has been a Park City tradition for 17 years and is always very entertaining to watch. If you don't want to ski and just want to watch the show, Gondola passes are $15, there will be a beer garden and grill set up for spectators to enjoy. Following the Pond skimming there will be a free concert by the North Mississippi Allstars at the resort center. Then on Sunday there is a special event called Clicquot in the Snow. French champagne maker Veuve Clicquot will do a special tasting paired with cuisine from the Farm between 3pm until 5:30pm. Tickets are $30. Also on Sunday enjoy another free concert on the resort stage by Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band. The show starts at 3pm.
San Francisco Chef's Class - Chef's Jake Des Voignes and Yaron Milgrom owners of San Francisco's Local's Corner, will demonstrate how to prepare fresh trout. Milgrom is a former Park City resident and wanted showcase his talents here at home. An optional wine pairing will be offered to those over 21.
