The Blind Dog ships in fresh East Coast jumbo lump crab meat from blue crabs each week, which also sets the restaurant apart from the other Park City Restaurants that mostly use products from the Pacific Coast and Alaska. Getting the fresh crab back east "is a huge challenge," said Pen, with Chappie adding that "everything we get is literally flown in daily." Even Derrick, who does not have a family food service history, knows a good deal about seafood, as he is a sport fisherman, and met Pen during a fishing tournament. "With a menu of "eclectic" American cuisine that - with the exception of a few favorites - changes daily.

The interiors of this fantastic mainstay offer an excursion to Mexico itself, full of glazed and terra cotta tilework, colorful flower arrangements, and scrubbed woodwork. A fireplace blazes, adding a note of welcome to the already-inviting surroundings. The cuisine melds French and American techniques with Southwestern ingredients, producing dishes that make mouths water with descriptions alone. Among them are honey and chili roasted duck enchiladas, London broil of elk, crown roast of barbecued spareribs with chipotle and caramelized pineapple glaze, and pecan and pumpkin seed encrusted trout. The experience is pricey but well worth the expense for such delights. For special occasions or self-indulgent treats, it's ideal.

Offering local favorites from the European Alps, in the heart of Deer Valley. Fireside Dining at Empire Canyon Lodge features four courses served from our stone fireplaces. Courses include warm Swiss raclette cheese accompanied by steamed new potatoes, house marinated pearl onions, cornichons, cured Italian and Swiss meats, freshly baked baguettes and condiments including house-made mustards and chutneys.

Move on to simmering stews and fricassées made with hearty Alpine ingredients such as veal, lamb, chicken, beef short ribs, quail, wild mushrooms, leeks, roasted tomatoes, root vegetables and fresh herbs. Another course offers leg of lamb, roasted slowly by the fire, brushed with fresh herbs and seasoning, accompanied by Cambozola leek dutch oven potatoes, polenta or three onion risotto.

At our dessert fireplace, tempt yourself with chocolate, caramel and white chocolate Grand Marnier fondues with several dipping choices. A full bar and a fine selection of wines are available as well as specially selected wines and imported beers to complement each course.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides will be available for hire throughout dinner, or consider an adventurous trek to dinner on snowshoes. For more information on these options, please ask the reservation agent at the time of booking.

Although this place isn't easily visible from Main Street, it's worth the extra few moments you'll need to find it. Sporting a contemporary mountain take on Asian décor, the restaurant features corrugated metal dividers and paper lanterns. The sushi bar is open and rustic, done in light maple woods; from it, you'll be able to sample a variety of rolls filled with vegetables, seafood, and other delicacies. Choose your favorites, accompany them with a smidgen of wasabi and a dash of soy sauce, and you'll revel in the freshness and simplicity of top-notch sushi, served in casual surroundings. Add some sake or a Japanese beer, and you're all set. There's even tempura, teriyaki tenderloin, and seared tuna for those who don't do sushi.

Bill White's newest restaurant (he now has five in Park City + the bakery) is vaguely modeled after a Roman villa with flaming cauldrons at the entrance. In contrast to the menu at White's upscale Italian restaurant Grappa, Ghidotti's serves what he describes as "Mamma's kind of food": lasagna, veal scaloppini, spaghetti with meatballs. Explore the selection of 35 wines by the glass and the cellar of nearly 3,000 bottles.

Since its opening on New Year's Eve, 1987, The Riverhorse has been highly regarded by both restaurant critics and the dining public. The elegant but casual dining room is one of Park City's most spectacular settings.  

In 1995, the Riverhorse became the first restaurant in Utah to receive the DiRoNA Award.
