Excitement is building for the 2019 Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships that will take place Feb 1-10 at Deer Valley Resort, Park City Resort, and Solitude Mountain Resort.  This will be the biggest winter sports event held in Utah since the 2002 Winter Olympics.  

More than 1,800 athletes and team officials will attend the Championships. There will be 29 competitions including qualifying and final rounds with 13 FIS events showcased, and $750,000+ in prize money. Three new Olympic events will be hosted for the first time at a FIS World Championships: freeski big air, mixed team snowboard cross and team aerials.

Deer Valley Resort will host the moguls and aerials competitions.  Park City Resort at Canyons Base area will host the

USA Today ranked the top 10 best ski towns and Park City came in at #7 and was the only Utah town on the list.  A panel of experts partnered with 10 Best editors to pick the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote.  Readers have been voting for the past 4 weeks.

After months of deliberation the United States Olympic Committee has chosen Salt Lake City to bid for a future Olympic Winter Games.

The International Olympic Committee won’t award the 2030 bid until the summer of 2023. The United States will host the 2028 Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles, which had previously held the 1984 Games.

The Olympic community worldwide still holds Salt Lake City’s 2002 Games in high regard. Venues remained world-class and world-class events continually are held in Utah, including skiing, snowboarding, speedskating. bobsled, skeleton and luge World Cup events. Not to mention the World Championship events held here.

Here are the happenings this weekend in Park City!  The town is all dressed in snow and glorious right now! 

Annual Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-along - Come experience the Holiday spirit at annual Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-Along, which features local singers, musicians and dancers.  The shows will be Friday to through Sunday at the Egyptian Theatre on Main Street.  Showtimes are at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday and 6pm on Sunday.  Tickets range from $15 to $25 and youth tickets are $12.  

Oak Ridge Boys - The Grammy Award-winning country group Oak Ridge Boys will bring its "Shine the Light on Christmas" tour to Kamas's Dejoria Center this Friday.  Tickets range from $55 to $225.  You can purchase them by going to

Deer Valley opened the 2018-2019 ski season with good snow; 16 chairlifts operating and 50 ski runs open!  Here is a short video Craig took while skiing that day.  

Forbes named Utah the second best state for business moving up one stop from last year.  Forbes has been ranking the business climates of states since 2006 and Utah is the only one to come in at the top six times.  They use 41 metrics across six main categories:  business costs, regulatory environment, economic climate, growth prospects and quality of life.  

Utah ranked highest in employment growth and is expected to remain #1 in that category through 2022.  Utah's low energy costs and ability to lure in tech companies and many start-ups also made them rank #2 in the Nation.  Though it isn't stated in the article by Forbes, Utah's beauty and year round outdoor activities most likely contribute to many employers and employees eventually settling here.
