The Sundance Institute announced today the 2019 selected Feature Films for the Sundance Film Festival.  For the 2019 Festival, 112 feature-length films have been selected, representing 33 countries and 45 first-time filmmakers.  These films were selected from a record high of 14,259 submissions including 4,018 feature-length films.  Only Feature Films were announced today, Shorts, Indie Episodic and New Frontier, are forthcoming.

The categories for 2019 Feature Films are: U.S Dramatic, U.S. Documentary, World Cinema Dramatic, World Cinema Documentary, Premieres, Documentary Premieres, Midnight, Spotlight, Next, and Kids.  In 2018, the Festival drew 124,900 attendees from 49 U.S. states and 26 other countries, generated $191.6 million in economic

The World Ski Awards were held earlier this month in Austria and several Park City companies came away with awards!  Ski tourism professionals and ski consumers around the globe vote on these prestigious awards every year.  For the sixth consecutive year Deer Valley Resort was named the best U.S. ski resort.  Stein Eriksen Lodge won the best U.S. ski hotel for the fourth time!  Goldener Hirsch Inn, located in the Silver Lake area of Deer Valley Resort was named the best ski boutique hotel in the U.S. It was also in the top three for the best ski boutique hotels in the world!

Every year Historic Main Street kicks off the Holiday season with the Electric Parade and small business Saturday.  More than 200 specialty shops, galleries, and restaurants welcome the holiday season with special deals on Saturday November 24th, encouraging locals and tourists to come shop small on Main Street!  Select businesses will give away gift certificates!  Historic Park City and Park City Municipal are even offering Go Park City App users one free parking session on Main Street Nov 24 - Dec 5.

Canyons Village Connect

The Canyons Village Connect is a new, complimentary on-demand ride service that will begin on Wednesday, November 21, the opening day at Park City Mountain. From November 21 through closing day on April 7, 2019, this app-based pilot program will be available to guests daily within Canyons Village at Park City Mountain.

The on-demand service will be available daily from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. This service will include stops at Canyons Village Transit Hub and the existing bus stop between the Grand Summit hotel and Westgate Park City hotel, coupled with on-demand, door-to-door service throughout the Frostwood area (Waldorf Astoria, Miners Club, Wyndham Park City, Juniper Landing, Fairway Springs and Frostwood Ski & Golf

Park City Mountain Resort is set to open Wednesday, and for the first time both bases will open at Canyons Village and Park City Mountain.  Due to the cold weather and concentrated snowmaking efforts they are able to open both just in time for Thanksgiving!  Payday, First Time, and Three Kings lifts will open at Park City side and High Meadow and Saddleback lifts, accessed by the Red Pine Gondola will open on the Canyons side.  

Canyons side has made some major improvements ready for the ski season with a new learner's area, High Meadows Park, serviced by a new high speed quad lift.  Learners now will have a wider place to practice with a variety of pitches and some fun adventure trails to practice going through the trees.  There was also some dining

Adopt-a-Native Elder Navajo Rug Show and Sale - The 29th annual Adopt-a-Native Elder rug show and sale will return to Deer Valley's Snow Park Lodge this weekend!  It begins Friday from 6-10pm with a sale preview of traditional hand-woven rugs, hors d' oeuvres, entertainment and a live auction.  Saturday and Sunday the show goes from 10am to 6pm and Navajo rugs, jewelry, and crafts will be available for purchase. Treasure Approved in Park City

Park City voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved a $48 million ballot measure that will fund most of the cost of the acquisition of the Treasure land in a conservation deal, ending more than three decades of uncertainty about the acreage overlooking Old Town along the route of the Town Lift.

According to preliminary totals released on Tuesday night, 2,839 people, or 77 percent, voted in favor of the measure, while 836, or 33 percent, cast nay votes. The voters approved the bulk of the funding needed for the $64 million acquisition of Treasure, as well as a contribution of up to $3 million for an unrelated conservation deal in Thaynes Canyon.
