One of the biggest events of the year in Park City is the Kimball Arts Festival and it is happening this weekend!   The fun begins Friday night at 5pm and goes until 9pm.  Local Summit County residents get in free on Friday night, you must provide a valid ID.  Saturday hours are 10am to 8pm and Sunday is 10am to 6pm.  Adults are $15 for a 3 day pass and kids 6-17 are $5, and kids 5 and under are free.  Here is a good tip: buy your tickets beforehand online and save $3!

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined will be held Dec. 30-31 at the Utah Olympic Park in a winner-take-all event where the victors will be named to Team USA. The Olympic Trials will feature Nordic Combined on Saturday, Dec. 30 followed by Ski Jumping for men and women on Sunday, Dec. 31. NBC will carry the event nationally including live coverage of Sunday’s Ski Jumping. The winner of each event will receive a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.

The Park City area is crucial to any Olympic bid. Approximately half of the events in 2002 were staged locally as athletes competed at Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort and the Utah Olympic Park. Main Street was turned into a pedestrian-only celebration zone. Another major venue was located at Soldier Hollow in nearby Wasatch County. Few details were announced on Monday, but it seems almost certain government, tourism and resort-industry figures from the Park City area will be heavily involved in the discussions.

The Utah Sports Commission indicated an exploratory committee, announced on Monday, will include elected officials, businesspeople and leaders in the community.…
