Vail Resorts on Monday announced it has entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire 100 percent of the outstanding stock of Peak Resorts, at a purchase price of $11.00 per share, subject to certain conditions, including regulatory review and Peak Resorts’ shareholder approval.

Through the acquisition, Vail Resorts will add 17 U.S. ski areas to its network of resorts. Located near major metropolitan areas, including New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Columbus, St. Louis, Kansas City and Louisville, the resorts include:

  • Mount Snow in Vermont
  • Hunter Mountain in New York
  • Attitash Mountain Resort, Wildcat Mountain and Crotched

Deer Valley Resort will open for summer operations his Friday June 14!  It is going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside some hiking or biking.  Here are some of the other fun things happening this weekend in Park City:

Summit Yoga Series at Montage Deer Valley - The Montage Deer Valley will hold a free guided meditation and yoga session on Friday from 9-10am.  It will be led by on of the Montage's in-house fitness experts and will be held on the mountain lawn. 

Friends of Summit County Library Used Book Sale -  A used book sale will be open to the public with the Friends of the Summit County Library on Friday and Saturday starting at 10am.  It will be held at the Summit County Library Kimball Junction Branch.  Great way to get some books for

Its that wonderful time of year again when the Park City Farmers Market opens for the 2019 season!  We are so excited for the fresh fruit, veggies, flowers, local artisans, and so much more.  It will take place again at the Silver King parking lot located at Park City Mountain Resort.  It is every Wednesday from 12pm-5pm through October or until the weather starts turning too cold.  We look forward to going every Wednesday it is one of the best things about Park City in the summer!

Beginning May 24, Park City Mountain will offer a variety of outdoor activities at the Park City Base Area including one of the world’s longest alpine slides; the ZipRider and Flying Eagle Zip Lines; a 4,000 ft alpine coaster; and miles of hiking, mountain biking opening date is yet to be determined. PayDay Lift will open on May 24 followed by Crescent Lift on June 17. Town Lift will be open for scenic rides beginning June 17 through August 21. New this summer, Park City will also offer three new attractions for children weighing between 30 – 100lbs., including a small kids’ zipline and kids’ challenge course that are targeted to open Memorial Day Weekend and a kids’ summer tubing hill targeted to open in July.

There will be a slew of Golden Spike 150 celebrations throughout the state this month, making the hearts of railroad and history fans happy!  The Golden Spike 150th anniversary is a celebration of the completion of the transcontinental railroad, with many family-friendly events and exhibits through-out the state of Utah.  

If you don't want to travel too far here are several events happening close to Park City:

Park City Mountain’s Spring Grüv festival is happening now through closing day (April 7) with activities, music and special events at both base areas every day! This year’s Spring Grüv will be highlighted by the two remaining Saturday concerts:  Anderson East on March 30 (Park City Mountain Village) and Dragondeer on April 6 (Canyons Village). Other activities include free s’mores, family après activities, meet and greets with the avalanche dogs.  

The big event everyone looks forward to is the 23rd annual Pond Skimming competition held at the top of the Red Pine Gondola just outside Red Pine Lodge.  Competitors must dress up in costume and try to cross a 100 foot pond on either skis or snowboard.  The hilarity that plays out is well worth the wait for

The 16th annual Deer Valley Music Festival continues the tradition of pairing well-known, popular artists with the Utah Symphony in the beautiful outdoor setting at Park City’s Deer Valley® Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.  Just this week the 2019 line-up was announced, the seven-week, 17-concert music festival begins on Friday, June 28, 2019 and runs through Saturday, August 10, 2019.   There is a big range of talent this year including: Utah native Marie Osmond, Kristin Chenoweth, Chris Botti, Patriotic Celebration with Hugh Panaro, Aretha Franklin Tribute, Disney in Concert, Music of the Rolling Stones and much more!

After 10 days and 121 features films, the 2019 Sundance Film Festival awarded 28 prizes to filmmakers.  There are several categories for the awards: U.S. Grand Jury Documentary and Dramatic, World Cinema Grand Jury Documentary and Dramatic, Audience Award U.S. Documentary and Dramatic, Audience Award World Documentary and Dramatic, Directing Awards, Special Jury Awards, and NEXT Awards.
