For nearly 40 years, no developer has managed to build and open a new, full-service ski resort, but it’s not because there wasn’t demand for one or a desire to do so.

”I know that the mountains are littered with developers who thought they were going to do something and nothing happened,” said Gary Barnett, founder and chairman of Extell Development Company, who unveiled plans Monday for a ski resort and village that includes hotels, condominiums and residential housing.

”I mean, nothing has really been done in the country in the last 30 years, since Beaver Creek, really. … It’s so hard to do.”

So what makes a guy who doesn’t even ski think he can do what no one else has managed since 1980? A

Seven Utah restaurants have made Wine Spectator's 2019 Restaurant Wine List Awards in the Best of Award category.   Four of those restaurants are in Park City.  Tupelo moved up and made the list for the first time and then three repeat winners made the list again: J&G Grill, Glitretind, and Bangkok Thai on Main.  Only 1244 restaurants in the whole world make the Best of Award category.  14

14 other Utah restaurants made the Award of Excellence list, 7 of those are in Park City: Riverhorse on Main, 350 Main, Cena Ristorante, Edge Steakhouse,  Fireside Dining, The Mariposa ,and Seafood Buffet at Deer Valley Resort.

Congrats to all the winners!  Park City really isn't just an outdoor haven it has award winning restaurants too!

Park City will host the final two stages of Tour of Utah's grueling bike race, that features some of the world’s most prestigious teams and cyclists. The Tour of Utah now attracts worldwide attention as the top international cycling event that follows the Tour de France. With seven days of some of the greatest cycling challenges the world has to offer, the Tour of Utah is not to be missed.  The final two stages this year will start and finish in Park City!   Stage 5 will be on  August 17 (day 6) of the tour and it will begin and end for the first time at The Canyons Village area at Park City Mountain. A winding trail across Summit County will take the race past Jordanelle and Rockport reservoirs for a total 85.1 miles (137 km) and 5,236 feet of

The sixth annual edition of Park City's Best  is out for 2019 and it is the Who's Who of Park City!  Almost 7,000 people voted online this year, making it the most popular year yet!  With 100 questions, there were many categories ranging from food, to hotels, to dentists!  If you want to know who is Park City's favorite chef, teacher, property manager, hair salon, or spa this is the place to look.  There were some repeat winners this year but also some new surprises.

Hard to believe the Park City Kimball Arts Festival turns 50 this year, and everyone is invited to celebrate this weekend August 2-4 on beautiful Main Street!  The Kimball Arts Festival is the main fundraiser for the Kimball Arts Center and with it being 50 years, there will be some special offerings this year.  The Free to Fest is an offering this year for  primary residents of Summit County,  free admission for the whole festival!  Residents must register by Friday Aug 2, to claim their free tickets, by going to kimballartcenter.org.

There also will be a new exhibit called "Festival Throughout the Ages," which is collection of photos taken during the festival's past 50 years. The exhibit will be on display in two locations, the Rockwell Room, at 268

Utah was named the 2nd best State to start a business by WalletHub! In the study, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 26 key indicators of startup success to determine the most fertile grounds in which to launch and grow an enterprise.  According to WalletHub; Starting a business is no easy task and about one fifth fail after one year, and almost fifty percent fail by 5 years. But startups fail for different reasons, a “bad location” among the most common. Choosing the right state for a business is therefore crucial to its success.
